Each project concept by “Biograpi Living” is connected to the historical identity of its location. Our fourth, large-scale residential complex, “Hisni,” will be built in one of Tbilisi’s oldest districts, Isani, a place with rich historical significance. The unique character of “Hisni” is defined by its location, its ecologically clean and green surroundings, and its refined design. In today’s blog, we’ll tell you more about the symbols that are brought to life in the visual identity of “Hisni.”
The Story Behind Hisni
The visual identity of the Hisni project has been influenced by the following elements:
- The synthesis of diverse cultures and ancient Georgian symbols
- Green spaces and recreational areas within the project site
- The location of the tram and trolleybus depot
History of the Location
“Hisni” is located in Isani, at #69 Queen Ketevan Street. One of the city’s longest streets, it is named after Saint Queen Ketevan. Historical records first mention Isani as a district in the 11th century. During the era of Arab rule, the settlement was fortified with walls and a moat, earning the Arabic name “Hisni,” meaning “fortress,” or “Isani” in Georgian. In later medieval times, the area was known as Metekhi. The king’s palace, royal church, and the Metekhi Cathedral, now a cultural monument of national significance, stood on a cliff by the Mtkvari River. With changes in the ages, the names of districts evolved. During the 20th century, in the urbanization period, the original name of the Metekhi district—Isani—was applied to the area now known as modern-day Isani.
This multifunctional complex is being constructed in an easily accessible, strategically favorable location. Key strategic facilities in this area will be centered around “Hisni,” including:
- Subway Station Isani
- Isani Mall
- Queen Ketevan Avenue
- 300 Aragveli Subway Station
- Parks, schools, and universities
- Medical facilities
- Old Tbilisi
- Airport
